Terms and conditions

  • This website is governed by the laws of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and you agree that any dispute will be resolved in the courts of the United Kingdom.
  • The content of the pages of this website is for your general information and use only. It is subject to change without notice.
  • All bears must be paid for when they are ordered from the website. I do not offer a layaway service.
  • Please provide your home address, delivery address (if different) your email address, and telephone and fax numbers. Please refer to my privacy policy on how these will be used and stored.
  • My preferred method of payment is PayPal or Bank Transfer. I am however able to take credit cards over the phone.
  • Bears will be posted on receipt and clearance of payment.
  • Delivery and insurance will be charged at cost unless otherwise stated and will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery, Parcel force or Insured International Post. I will never mark the value down for customs, please don't ask.
  • I am currently not taking on any commission work in 2018.
  • For specially commissioned bears I reserve the right to consider the order as cancelled if payment or contact is not made within 7 days of the date of completion of the bear.
  • For specially commissioned bears I reserve the right to substitute a mohair or other fabric for one of equivalent quality and of a similar colour or style if the original is unavailable.  I will discuss this with you at the time of you placing your order. If you order a bear or other animal made to your special requirements (a one of a kind bear) please state the exact description of the bear /animal in writing, this helps to avoid any confusion and becomes legally binding
  • If you are in anyway dissatisfied with your bear (or friend) please contact me immediately and I will endeavour to put this right for you, if you are still unhappy you should return your bear to me within fourteen days of receiving it for a full refund less postage. This applies to all items sold over this website but does not include bears or other specially commissioned creations made to your own requirements. When returning a bear you must arrange insurance and make sure that a signature is required, please retain proof of posting.

Shantock Bears - Privacy Policy

The whole point of a privacy policy is that you can understand what will happen to data relating to you when you engage with an company or individual. I’ve tried to make my interactions as privacy respectful as possible and my privacy policy clear and straightforward.  If there’;s anything you don’t understand about how I will use your data then please contact me.

In this privacy notice when I say “I”, “we” or “us” or “the website” I actually mean my UK-based [Elanor Andrews trading as Shantock Bears, 14 Southend Lane, Northall, Dunstable, Beds, LU6 2EX] , which is legally the (data) controller.  You can contact me at shantock bears @ outlook.com (without the spaces).

If you’re just browsing the website

The website collects no personal information about you but it does use  cookies from the Blogger Platform and Google to monitor the website’s performance and to let me know how many people have looked at each page .

Sometimes posts will have links that let you share content using Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram. if you click these, your browser will load that third party content from those site which will set cookies and try to track you. You can set adjust your privacy settings on those third party sites or better still install the EFF’s Privacy Badger extension for your browser.

If you give me your email address

People often give me their email addresses at bear shows  or by email and ask me to let  then know when I have made some new bears. If you do this I will keep your email address and name and use that to send you information about Shantock Bears, such as when we are exhibiting at a show or when I have made some new bears.

I maintain this information to send you the information you have requested. If you would like me to stop sending you information and remove your name and email address from my system then please just let me know.

I will never sell or pass on your details to other organisations.

If you just make and enquiry about a bear but don't ask to be added to my mailing list then, after I've answered your enquiry, I will delete your email address. 

If you order a bear from me

I will collect the following information from you which is necessary for me to fulfil a contract to make your bear and send it to you. Without this information I will be unable to take and process your order.
  • Your name and address 
  • Your contact information - such as a phone number so we can talk about your bear
  • Details of your order (bears, custom details etc)
  • Payment information.
I will keep this information for six years so I can answer questions about your order and in case there is ever a complaint about a bear.

I will share your name and address with Royal Mail  so that they can deliver your bear to you.  Sharing this information is necessary because without this your bear will have a sad and lonely life in the Dunstable sorting office.


If you are unhappy about the way I use your data

Then please let me know and I will try to make you happy again. 

You have many rights concerning data that relates to you, including the right to get a copy of any data, the right to have it corrected and - where it is no longer legally necessary for me to keep it - to have data erased.
