Its been emotional so far!

I didn't have the best start to the week, I was greeted at work with the news one of my service users had died on Sunday :-( it was expected as John had terminal cancer but its still very upsetting. John was only 29! only a few months older than me and such a character, he will b sadly miss by us all at work.

Then on Tuesday I found out I had not won a TOBY :-( I'm more disappointed than I thought I would be, I didn't even think I'd get one so am surprised I felt quite upset, I think maybe the fact I was sad about John made this worse. But I did have a phone call from Libby at Hamleys and she has just placed another order, so my disappointment hasn't lasted long.

I must now get cracking I'd like to finish 4 bears by Sunday night and haven't got very far yet!

Whoever stole it please give it back!

My creative mojo seems to be still lost, can't get my act together at all :-( It maybe because I'm trying to work in such a muddled, so my plan of action is to get tidying and hopefully I'll find my mojo under the piles of mohair, clothes, make-up etc and bits of paper that seem to be mating!!!!

We did win the pub quiz last night though :-) woo hoo! This is the 2nd time we've won the Bell quiz and we knocked off the current champions who've won the last 4 weeks in a row! The pressure will be on next week.

Right must get my pinny on and the polish out, just call me Mrs Tittlemouse.X

Lost!

I seem to have lost my creative mojo this week, I'm not happy with the 3 "heads" I've made :-( so today I have given myself the day off from sewing. So hopefully tomorrow my mojo will be back! So today I have joined Bear Pile http://www.bearpile.com/ and have put 4 of my 2007 designs on there, with my fingers crossed they sell quick as my car insurance is due! I've also been to visit a poorly mate who needed cheering up (cream eggs helped!) and I've just finished updating the website. So I feel quite productive, I'm off to our regular pub quiz tonight too so mush dash off to get ready got to be in Dunstable by 6:30 and I've only had a piece of toast today no wonder my tummy's rumbling :-)

5 weeks to go!

Hugglets is just around the corner, so I've been working hard this weekend getting bears (and a mouse) finished! I've managed to get another 4 completed and have just started sewing up another 3, so far I'm really pleased with what I've done, now all I've got to do is keep my fingers crossed that my collectors will think the same and I'll have a sell out on the 24th February! (in my dreams!!!!!!)

For anybody who does know what Hugglets is check out this link

Highcliff Castle!

I've just got back from visiting my Aunt in Hampshire, she lives just on the Dorset/Hampshire boarder very close to Highcliff Castle which has to be one of my most favourite places in England. Me and Mum visit the castle every time we go down to see Val and never get bored with the place. It has a wonderful history to it and each room has its own special atmosphere, the building has had a lot of damage over the years and is gradually being restored and is now the most popular place to get married in Dorset! If your interested take a peek at the website http://www.highcliffecastle.co.uk/

Not only do we love the castle but Highcliff has a fantastic beach, on Friday when this picture was taken the sea was very rough and I got slightly wet taking these photos, I love being near the sea and have a sense of complete well-being when I'm next to it, even when the weathers not good. The beach is also very sandy and we have spend many happy hours eating sand filled sandwiches and getting sun burnt there :-)

The Tailor of Hampshire

At my last show of 2007 I was chatting to other bear makers sister who had just brought a bear off me, we was talking over the Hugglets show and she mentioned that she'd like to buy one of my mice! Well she came up with the idea to do a homage of such to Beatrix Potter's "Tailor of Gloucester" and here he is "The Tailor of Hampshire"!!!!!!!!!
Hugglets is only 6 weeks away now, this is my most favourite show of the year and I'm so looking forward to it. I have lots of bears planned in my head and know I'll not have enough time to get them all done, so far I'm planning fairy bears, more mice and a new collection called "nursery bears" I have lots of accessories to use like a pretty little pink pram and a spinning top, right now though I'm in a alot of pain with a bad shoulder I'm not sure how or what I've done but its very painful so I'm not able to work, or sleep! I need lots of deep heat and painkillers I think :-(

1st bear of the year :-)

"Flutterby Beary"

Well here's the 1st bear of 2008!!! this photo does not do him justice, he's made from schulte viscose, its a beautiful fabric not so easy to work with but has this tactile natural feel to it. I love him and have just entered him into the TOBY awards 2008, I have no hope of even being nominated but if you don't try you don't get! Here's hoping.

I received my Ginger Brame bear yesterday and I'm delighted, "Moonstruck" is such a wonderful piece, there's so much detail that the website photos did not show off, it was totally worth paying the extra £48 customs charges. I'll take a photo and post it so you too can admire Gingers work.

Right I'm off to do a few hours work before I go out tonight, me and Kim are having a "Spaced" night, if you've never heard of Spaced its a TV programme that was made in the 90's if your between 25 and 30 you'd love it, I'd defiantly recommend watching it, anyway we're gonna watch the whole 1st series with a bottle (or 2) of wine and maybe a pizza, oh happy days.X

Back to reality!!!! Yuk

I went back to work ( Endeavour Day Centre ) today after having 12 days off and I have to say its been tough! All the paperwork and issues I had before Xmas were still there and had not miraculously been sorted while I was away, needless to say I do not feel all chilled and happy like yesterday! I also had a letter from Parcel Force wanting £48.78 in customs charges to release my Ginger Brame Bear!!!! This bear was my Xmas present from my Parents, my Aunt and a little bit myself! There's no way around it so I've had to pay it, but my bear should be delivered tomorrow which is sooooooooooooo exciting.

I also had a complete break away from the bears this holiday, I'm a bit of a workaholic so this has been really hard, my theory being that a complete break would get my creative juices flowing well in the New Year! I think its worked as I did make a bear yesterday, he's a cute little white bear made from beautiful white viscose material I got from Norbeary Fabrics. I'm thinking that I may have time to enter him into the TOBY awards, he just needs something added so I'm off to make some wings, I'll post a photo when I'm done. X
